🏠

New Septic System Installation

Building a home in Hall, Dawson, Lumpkin, or the surrounding mountains? We handle the full install — site assessment, soil and perc testing, permit application, system design, excavation, and final county inspection. We work with your builder's timeline.

Typical range: $6,000 – $15,000+
🔧

Septic Tank Replacement

Old concrete tanks crack. Steel tanks rust through. If your system is failing due to an aging tank, we'll excavate, remove the old tank, and install a properly sized replacement — concrete, fiberglass, or poly — with all required permits and inspections.

Typical range: $3,500 – $8,000
🛠

Septic System Repair

Soggy spots in the yard, sewage odors, slow drains, or alarms going off — these are all signs something's wrong. We diagnose the problem fast and repair it right, whether it's a broken baffle, cracked outlet pipe, pump failure, or distribution box issue.

Typical range: $400 – $3,000
🚬

Septic Tank Pumping & Cleaning

Regular pumping every 3–5 years is the single best way to extend your system's life and avoid a costly emergency. We pump, inspect the tank interior, check baffles and lids, and give you a written condition report. Preventive maintenance at its simplest.

Typical range: $350 – $600
🏜

Drain Field Installation & Repair

A failed drain field (leach field) is the most expensive septic problem — and it's often caused by years of neglect or improper installation. We install new systems and repair or replace failing fields, including alternative systems for challenging soils and slopes.

Typical range: $3,000 – $10,000
🔍

Septic Inspection

Buying or selling a home in North Georgia? Lenders and buyers require a full septic inspection. We provide a thorough written report covering tank condition, inlet/outlet baffles, drain field function, and code compliance — accepted by all local counties and most lenders.

Typical range: $250 – $500

Our Proven 5-Step Process

We don't cut corners. Every installation follows the same careful steps that protect your property, your family, and your investment for decades to come.

1

Free Site Evaluation

We walk your property, review setbacks, locate any existing infrastructure, and assess slope and lot size. No charge for this visit — just honest information.

2

Soil & Perc Testing

We coordinate with a certified soil scientist or conduct the perc test ourselves (where permitted by county). Soil type determines your system design and sizing — this step protects your permit approval.

3

Permitting

We handle all county permit applications, system designs, and engineer submittals. We know the county health department staff — and that familiarity speeds up your approval.

4

Installation

Our experienced crews install your system using proper equipment — no shortcuts on depth, gravel, pipe slope, or tank placement. We treat your yard with respect and leave the site clean.

5

Final Inspection

We schedule and pass the county final inspection, then walk you through the system so you know how to maintain it. You receive full documentation, warranty info, and maintenance reminders.

★★★★★

"We built on a steep lot in Lumpkin County and were told by two other contractors the soil wouldn't pass perc. North Georgia Septic Pros came out, did a proper soil evaluation, and designed an alternative system that passed on the first inspection. Couldn't recommend them more."

"My tank backed up on a Friday evening. Called them at 7pm expecting to leave a voicemail — someone actually picked up. They were at my house Saturday morning, pumped the tank, found a cracked outlet baffle, and had it repaired by noon. Fair price, no drama."

"Used them for a full system replacement on our 1970s ranch house. Old steel tank was completely rusted through and the drain field had failed. They handled the Dawson County permit, replaced everything, and were done in two days. Yard was cleaner than when they started."

"We were buying a house in Flowery Branch and needed a septic inspection for the lender within 48 hours. They squeezed us in, provided a thorough written report, and pointed out a few minor issues the seller agreed to fix before closing. The inspection paid for itself."

"Straight shooters. Got quotes from three companies. Two gave me numbers over the phone without even seeing the lot. North Georgia Septic came out for free, walked the whole property, explained exactly what we needed and why, and came in at a fair price. That's how it should be done."

Septic FAQ for North Georgia Homeowners

Real answers to the questions we hear most. Still have one? Call us — we're happy to talk through your situation.

A complete new septic installation in Hall, Dawson, Lumpkin, or surrounding counties typically runs $6,000 to $15,000 or more, depending on lot size, soil conditions, system type, and permit fees. Conventional gravity systems on good soil cost less. Alternative systems (mound, drip-irrigation, aerobic) on rocky or clay-heavy North Georgia mountain lots cost more. We provide written estimates after a free site visit — never over the phone without seeing your land.

Plan for 2 to 6 weeks total for a new installation. The permitting process through the county health department is usually the longest step — typically 2 to 4 weeks depending on the county's current backlog. Once we have a permit in hand, installation is usually 1 to 3 days. Repairs and pump-outs can often be done same-week or same-day for emergencies. We'll give you a realistic timeline before you commit to anything.

Yes — all new installations and most replacements require a county permit issued by the local Environmental Health office. We handle the entire permit process for you, including the application, site drawings, soil reports, and any required engineering. We have existing relationships with permit offices in Hall, Dawson, Lumpkin, Forsyth, White, and Habersham counties, which helps move things along. You do not need to go to the county office yourself.

A percolation (perc) test measures how fast water drains through your soil — this determines whether your lot can support a conventional septic system, and if so, how large the drain field needs to be. In Georgia, counties require a soil evaluation (often called a "soil morphology" or perc test) before issuing a septic permit. If you've already had one done by a certified soil scientist, great — we can work from those results. If not, we'll coordinate the testing as part of the permit process.

This is a health emergency. Call us immediately at (770) 555-0100 — we prioritize true septic emergencies. In the meantime: avoid the affected area (sewage contains harmful bacteria), minimize water use in the house (showers, laundry, flushing), and keep children and pets away from the saturated area. Do not attempt to dig up or open the tank yourself. We can typically dispatch a crew same-day or within 24 hours for emergencies throughout our service area.

That's the most important question — and it requires a proper diagnosis, not a guess. Common signs of a repair-able problem: single slow drain, pumping alarm, isolated wet spot, broken baffle or lid. Signs that lean toward full replacement: multiple saturated areas in the yard, sewage odors coming from the soil broadly, a system that's more than 30 years old with recurring problems, or a failed drain field with no recovery after resting. We'll give you an honest assessment after inspecting the system — we'll always tell you if a repair will get you another 10 years vs. just delay the inevitable.

We understand that a $10,000 septic bill is not a planned expense for most families. We work with third-party financing partners that offer payment plans for qualified homeowners. Ask about financing options when you request your free quote. Additionally, some rural Georgia counties and USDA programs offer grants and low-interest loans for septic improvements — particularly for low-to-moderate income rural households. We can point you toward those resources.

All new installations and full replacements include a 1-year workmanship warranty on our labor. Tank manufacturers typically carry a 20-25 year structural warranty (we'll provide the documentation). Pump manufacturers carry their own warranty, usually 1 to 3 years. We stand behind our work — if something fails due to a defect in our installation within the warranty period, we'll fix it at no charge. We also send out maintenance reminders so small issues don't become big ones.
